The Sand Cherry is a shrub-like tree native to the Michigan dunes. Clusters of creamy white flowers appear in the spring followed by a bitter red miniature cherry-like fruit in mid-summer. The narrow leaves turn deep red in the fall; trunks are reddish with white dots or streaks.
