Sometimes clients want to use wheeled or motor transportation to access the beach. We built a wood and steel ramp to help residents traverse a wetland area and ascend a 60' dune in order to build their lakeshore cottage. The ramp is over 20 years old and shows no significant signs of wear, even after hundreds of trips using a Kawasaki Mule (Utility Terrain Vehicle) to carry all the materials for building a three-story house.
Steel ramps are strong, long-lasting, and good for the dune. Light, sand, rain, and snow pass easily through the rectangular steel bar grating, which decreases maintenance and increases vegetation that stabilizes the dune. The serrated top edge of the grating improves traction and safety in wet conditions. We can also install steel or wooden railings, and treated lumber bumpers improve ramp safety.
Steel ramps are customized to the slope, curve, and major ecological features of each client's property
This single-post support system minimizes disturbance to the wetland or dune underneath
We use serrated steel bar grating and 6" grit-painted steel plates to cover gaps between the grates. Together, these create a smooth rampway and enhance traction for feet and wheels during wet or snowy weather
We can also install a turntable for easy UTV access
