Railing systems are made up of posts, rails, and infill.
We use treated lumber, ipe hardwood, aluminum, or steel for posts and rails.
Infill is either vertical or horizontal and made of wood or cable.
Michigan code requires a continuous, graspable handrail with strict definitions of both terms; it also requires no more than 4" gaps in the infill.
